For UK Geocoding of UK Postcodes is still possible via the Google AJAX Search

"There are no intended changes to the geocoding API - results in the UK and Japan should still be returning the 603 error code. We're tracking down the change now and hope to resolve it shortly. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!"

Why are you being so coy with the code? The code is exactly as in the documentation, loads of sites already have this functionality its just that it suddenly works in the UK :)

not coy just beta blogger will not display the code - it trys to display the map!

Tried it yesterday and it worked, but this morning its not working. Did google switch UK geocoding on by accident?

yes, it was too good to be true.
It's a real shame, have had lots of interest on this subject.

Blame Crown Copyright.Royal Mail and Ordnance Survey have it.

This is stifleing for all UK geospatial data users.

It might have been left on during the updating from version 1 to version 2.
